Celler Joan Simó is a family project in the historic centre of Porrera, in an old ancestral home that has been restored as a small winery where tradition and modernity live together in perfect harmony. From the start, the project has focused on making wines that faithfully express the landscape, the llicorella and the personality of the Priorat vineyards.

The vineyards are spread over different slopes around Porrera, many of them with old Garnatxa and Carinyena vines that give very limited yields of exceptional quality. The work in the vineyard is done with great care to preserve the essence of each plot and then reflect it in each wine.

The wine tourism visit begins in the winery itself, where we discover how the wines are made and aged in a space full of history. This is followed by a pleasant walk to the Les Eres vineyard, very close to the village, from where there are magnificent views of Porrera and its spectacular landscape of slopes.

During the visit we learn about the characteristics of llicorella soils, the native varieties and the work involved in tending the vines by hand in such a demanding setting. All of this helps you understand why Priorat wines have such a strong identity.

The experience ends with a guided tasting of a selection of the winery’s wines, including Les Eres Vinyes Velles, Les Eres Especial Carners, Sentius, Viatge al Priorat and Tros Nou, wines that reflect the perseverance, passion and deep bond of the family with its land.
