The Cal Menescal winery is perfect for wine tourism activities and for wine tasting in Tarragona, within the DO Terra Alta. It offers a wide range of activities related to the world of wine.
On your visit you will discover the star varieties of this appellation: white grenache is the most emblematic of the area. One third of the world’s production of white grenache comes from the Terra Alta designation of origin. As for red varieties, it is worth highlighting morenillo, a scarce and exclusive variety.
Cal Menescal is a family winery that has been making wines since the end of the 19th century. The visit to this winery becomes a journey through time, and on this particular journey we will visit its House Museum, a space filled with the everyday tools of rural life that were essential for any family of the time. We will also visit its old oil mill and taste 3 or 4 wines with a member of the family, free of charge.
Apart from the basic winery visit, Celler Menescal offers a wide range of wine tourism activities in Tarragona, such as the full winery tour, a vineyard visit, aperitifs or even a wine tasting workshop to learn all the secrets of wine.
Another recommended experience is the tasting of very limited editions of experimental grenaches, where wine tourists will discover unique, never-before-released grenaches, amphora vinifications, skin-contact wines…
Bike & Wine is another activity on offer. You can rent traditional or electric bicycles for a route that starts and ends at the winery itself and includes the visit and the aperitif. If you wish, you can also fly over the winery’s vineyards on a light aircraft flight.
The winery also offers activities especially aimed at children, as it is kids friendly and children are very welcome. From the wine aroma game to must tastings and, during the harvest months, grape picking as a family.
You can complement the visit by walking or cycling the Via Verda greenway and heading to the Sanctuary of the Mare de Déu de la Foncalda for a swim all year round, as its waters always spring at 28ºC.

Via verde por la mañana y luego visita a la bodega con el josep, que fue un amfitrion perfecto, los vinos muy interesantes y mencion a parte su vinagre que os recomiendo que probéis!! ????

Una visita muuuy entretenida, donde además de aprender de vinos pasas un buen rato con el Pep, que te lo hace todo muy facil y didactico. Perfecta para pasar una mañana conociendo los secretos de esta bodega familiar.

Sin dudarlo volveríamos otra vez. Estuvimos durmiento en Cal tomas en el mismo pueblo y nos recomendaron la visita, que no defrauda… el museu es muy divertido y ves muchas cosas antiguas. Los vinos perfectos de precio y calidad para comprarlos.
