Celler Batea was founded in 1961, as a result of the winemaking tradition that has always been part of the history of Terra Alta.
The town of Batea is located in the southeast of Catalonia, on the border with Aragon, at 400 meters above sea level. Typically Mediterranean climate and predominance of two winds, the Cierzo (from the inland), and the Garbí (from the sea). The diversity of its calcareous soils, poor in organic matter, and the landscape, hills, valleys and plains where natural terraces are used for the vineyard, make Batea a place of unprecedented beauty.
Celler Batea‘s vineyards are spread over different microclimates in the region, which provides very peculiar characteristics to its wines, whose most representative varieties are Grenaches, while White Grenaches is also the variety that stands out the most in the DO Terra Alta.
