Celler Melis Priorat is a project located near Torroja del Priorat, in the heart of the DOQ Priorat, working with vineyards planted on steep terraces over llicorella soil. This rugged and demanding landscape is one of the keys that define the intense, mineral character of its wines.

The vineyards, spread over small mountain plots, require constant manual work because of the steep slopes and difficult access. This mountain viticulture, often called “heroic”, produces grapes of great concentration and expressiveness that faithfully reflect the essence of the land.

The wine tourism visit lets you discover this unique setting first-hand. The tour includes a walk through the vineyards, where the features of the llicorella soil, the Priorat microclimate and the influence of the terraces on grape ripening are explained.

During the visit you also see the winery and the winemaking process, always with a philosophy that seeks to respect the fruit and its origin as much as possible, intervening as little as possible to preserve the identity of each plot.

The experience ends with a guided tasting of several of the winery’s wines, such as Elix, Melix, Obrador, Saurí and Petit Saurí, wines that express the character of the most authentic Priorat with strength and elegance.

Visiting Celler Melis Priorat is an opportunity to understand the relationship between the extreme landscape and the quality of the wines, and to discover how dedication and manual work are transformed into bottles full of identity.
